The Front Pew

I’ve loved Jesus since I can remember. I accepted Him publicly when I was eight years old at church camp.

I mainly served as a children’s worker in one capacity or another for over thirty years. These last few years, I’ve been in a season of rest from children’s church work.

I don’t know what’s in store for the future but I’m quite certain God will lemme know when it’s time.

This is the place I’ll keep my church and faith stories, ponderings and recipes.

Just like the other pages, the blue links lead to published stories and recipes. The black ones are dilly-dallying and will be here soon.

When I was working in the children’s department in Romayor, I used to randomly yell out a Bible trivia question or a joke while walking down the children’s hallway.

The kids would try to come to me after class and give me the answer first. At first the adults would ask me why three different kids asked them about why Jonah was pouting after he preached to the Ninevites. After a while, they got a chuckle out of the kids trying to get the adults to tell them.

Some adults didn’t know and it got people thinking more about the story than the part about the big fish.

Other times it was things I knew they had been studying and could answer right away.

It really didn’t matter if they knew it easily or had to ask, or better yet, look it up for themselves. As long as they knew we were interested in them and loved them.

It showed the kids the adults were willing to help. It blurred the lines we often unintentionally draw when we segregate the children from the adults.

When I accidentally left my folder games out, the older kids were using them. I realized just because they were older didn’t mean they had heard the Bible stories yet.

I hesitate to label the trivia as Children’s Church trivia because it can be for anyone. But, I have to call it something. I might eventually get around to having more than a beginner type of trivia.

But, that’s a future project. I have other things I’m currently working on.
