My Grandma Helen and Pawpaw Gene were married 76 years.

A lot of people don’t even live as long as they were married. They were teenagers when they married and in their 90s when they passed away.
As with a lot of couples who are married a long time, they passed within 6 months of each other. One in January and the other following that July.
Now, when I first got married, Grandma and Pawpaw had already been married for 45 years. When she said,” Kell, I’m gonna give you the most important marriage advice you’re ever gonna get,” I figured she knew what she was talking about.
We were in her kitchen by the stove cooking. She looks over her shoulder, then leans in real close…“ If you want to have a long and good marriage, be a devil in the bedroom and an angel in the kitchen.”
I almost spit out my sweet tea, y’all.
Then she straightened up and said,” and don’t keep score. In the bedroom or anywhere else. Let the little things go.”
Did I mention they were married for 76 years?

Until next time, take care of the people you love and don’t forget to make a few memories worth telling.
