My daughter, Krissy, used to make these donuts. We’d make a big batch of the mix up so she could easily make them.
They taste kinda like the donut sticks you buy in the snack cake aisle.

You’ll Need:
4 ½ c flour
1 c dry milk powder
1 c sugar
2 TBS baking powder
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 ½ c shortening (or butter or coconut oil if you store in fridge)
Step 1: Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly.
Step 2: Cut in shortening until it looks crumbly like coarse meal.
To Use Ingredients :
2 ½ c donut mix
1 egg
¼ c milk
1 tsp vanilla
Step 3: Mix together until it’s a soft dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. It won’t take much.
Step 4: Roll or pat out ½” thick. Cut with a donut cutter or a glass. If you’re using a glass, cut the middle with a knife or a 2 liter soda cap.
Step 5: To fry: heat oil to 350-375°. Cook donuts in a single layer until golden. Flip and cook other side.
To bake: Heat oven to 350°. Bake 20 minutes.Don’t forget the donut holes!! You can sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm or let cool and frost.Chocolate donuts: Add ¼ c cocoa and ¼ cup sugar when mixing the donut mix into a dough.
KellRae’s Kitchen Tips: You can triple or quadruple this if you use it a lot.
Don’t forget the donut holes!! You can sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm or let cool and frost.
For chocolate donuts: Add ¼ c cocoa and ¼ cup sugar when mixing the donut mix into a dough. You may like the chocolate ones a little sweeter. Add a little more sugar. You might have to add a tsp or two of extra milk if you add too much sugar so the dough isn’t too dry.
Until next time, take care of the people you love and don’t forget to make a few memories worth telling.
