Growing up, my dad had a specific pair of shorts he would wear when he took us down to the creek. We called them his βcreek shorts.β
They were denim cutoffs. The background was white. The print? Red and blue stars. Bright red and blue stars.
I thought my Daddy was cool AND patriotic. I never thought about what those shorts looked like as pantsβ¦
Until I was looking through some old pictures at my Mom and Grandma’s house. I can’t unsee it.
My dad’s creek shorts started life out as bell bottoms, y’all.
My overall wearing dad wore bell bottoms back in the day. He really was cool. I was laughing.
I said, β Oh my gosh, those are Daddy’s creek shorts. But bigger!β
Mom says,β Your dad STILL has those pants?!β
β He did until a few years ago. I think Mae finally threw them out.β
I know remembering a pair of shorts might not be super interesting. To me, going to the creek with Dad is a great memory. Creek shorts and all.
Finding out Dad used to wear bell bottoms instead of overalls? Priceless π
Until next time, take care of the people you love and don’t forget to make a few memories worth telling.
