This month we celebrated two birthdays, Shyanne and Larry. They’re the only local July birthdays.
We do have other July birthdays including Mom and Lark.
Dad, Mae, and Uncle Rick told some family stories. We talked about the donkey and mules we’ve had over the years. I can’t really repeat Uncle Rick’s stories here but Dad’s was funny.
He said when he was a young man, he went to buy some tires. This older gentleman had his tires put on with the white walls showing. Dad joked with him and said,” you know you can turn the white to the inside.”The man said that when he was young, white walls cost extra. They were a luxury he couldn’t afford. Now that he can afford it, he wants to see his white walls. 😂
Uncle Rick said white wall tires are like kids. He likes’em both but he don’t want either 🙄 😂
Daddy asked Larry if he’d heard about fat ovals. He said that tires used to be 9” . When bigger tires come out, they called them fat ovals. I’d never heard that before.
Audie started his EMT training. I didn’t get a chance to ask him about it specifically but he was telling someone else about it and he seems to like it so far. I also didn’t ask get to ask Sheridan and Bucky about their wedding planning. Someone did ask but I was walking through and didn’t hear the progress.
Kendell said she’s been waiting a LOOONG time for me to make Firehouse Spaghetti again. I said I thought it had only been a month or so ago but she said it was for the October or November birthday dinner 😂. I thought I’d better write it down or I’ll forget how long it’s been.
So, this month we had fourteen family members at the birthday dinner. We ate Firehouse Spaghetti, green bean casserole, salad, a fruit tray and Aunt Barbie’s brownies.Oh, and Kendell reminded me we never added baby Millie’s name to the birthday wall list. So, Memaw and I did that. We can’t have Millie Jo thinking we’ve forgotten about her already 😂
