These are super good!

I got the recipe from a Youtube video from Appalachia’s Homestead with Patara. Unfortunately , I don’t think she posts recipes anymore.
If you leave out the brown sugar it makes regular biscuits.
You’ll Need:
2 cups All Purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
6 TBS butter cut in chunks or grated
½ c brown sugar, packed
1 cup buttermilk (or 1 TBS vinegar in 1 c milk then let sit 5 minutes)
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°. Mix dry ingredients except brown sugar.
Step 2: Add butter and mix until coarse crumbs. You can mix with a pastry cutter, a fork, or clean hands. Add in brown sugar and mix until combined.
Step 3: Mix in milk until a dough forms. Just mix until combined. Too much mixing will cause tougher biscuits.
Step 4: Put onto a floured surface and sprinkle with flour so it’s not so sticky. Roll or pat out about ½-3/4 inch thick. You can cut with a biscuit cutter, floured glass rim, or with a pizza cutter for easier square biscuits.
Step 5: Bake for 15-18 minutes. Eat with lots of butter!!
KellRae’s Kitchen Tips: I freeze a stick of butter then grate it. It makes mixing it into the flour so much easier!
I do that with everything that calls for mixing butter into flour that needs to stay cold like pie crusts and biscuits.
Also, if you put the flour in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes it helps keep the dough cool and soft.
Until next time, take care of the people you love and don’t forget to make a few memories worth telling.
