Emmy asks Santa for Something Big

My daughter was making her requests from Santa. Mrs. Claus shot me a questioning look. I shook my head fiercely…NO!

Emily was almost seven. We went to a bluegrass concert and Santa was there with his helper. Since we knew that particular Santa, we let her join in the fun and sit on Santa’s lap.

Of course, Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas. She didn’t miss a beat…I want a little brother!

I was speechless. Which takes a lot.

The helper shot me a questioning look. I shook my head fiercely. Nope, nopety nope.

Apparently, Santa takes little girls’ requests very seriously.

In February, I started feeling sick. ALL. THE. TIME.

In October, Emily had her little brother.

I made a rule that year. No one can ask Santa for anything that breathes or eats.

Except plants. You can ask Santa for poinsettias.

And that’s been a standing house rule for over 20 years now.

I do have to mention, though, he was much quieter and calmer than my other babies. Maybe the sleigh ride did something to him 😂

Until next time, take care of the people you love and don’t forget to make a few memories worth telling.
